2009 Joint Meeting of PSSAC and CFSC
Soil-Geology-Vegetation Relationships of Yosemite National Park

September 17-19, 2009

The 2009 Joint Annual Meeting of the Professional Soil Scientists Association of Caifornia and the California Forest Soils Council was held in Yosemite National Park where we explored the "Soil-Geology-Vegetation Relationships of Yosemite National Park." On Thursday, September 17, there was an afternoon lecture session, followed by a two-day field tour on Friday and Saturday, September 18-19. The tour focused on the NRCS Soil Survey of Yosemite National Park and what was learned:

• mapping approach and protocols -- some atypical and useful ideas.
• soil morphology - chemistry - landscape relationships -- we have the data.
• forest soils vs. meadow soils -- see the differences.
• soil temperature regimes -- more interesting than you might think.

PSSAC President Tom Rice compiled an album of the meeting (PDF document), including an abreviated agenda and snapshops of the sights along the way.
