R. J. Poff and Associates provides consulting services in soil and watershed management including expert testimony, forensic investigations, aerial photo interpretation, erosion and sediment control, wetlands, off-highway vehicle management, forest soil management, and training.

Roger Poff, principal soil scientist, has a BS in agriculture and soil science from the University of Wisconsin -- River Falls and did graduate work in soil science at the University of Minnesota.  He also attended the soil science institute at Iowa State University.  Mr. Poff is a Certified Professional Soil Scientist (CPSSc), a Certified Erosion and Sediment Control Specialist (CPESC), Certified Professional in Storm Water Quality (CPSWQ), and a California Registered Professional Forester (RPF).

Mr. Poff began his professional career as a soil mapper in Minnesota and was a soil survey party chief for five years in South Dakota - where he also taught soils.  He was a soil scientist for the U.S. Forest Service in Montana and California for 25 years.   While with the Forest Service, Mr. Poff completed hundreds of project investigations related to soil and watershed management, conducted soil surveys, and conducted numerous field workshops on soil management.  He also served as watershed management program leader and land management planner.

Since its establishment in 1992, R.J. Poff & Associates has completed soil and watershed projects for dozens of clients throughout northern California, as well as in northern Arizona and western Nevada.
